Welcome to St. Kateri Catholic Elementary School!

Our school strives to improve student learning, each and every day. A culture of respect, shared responsibility, and ownership for one’s choices and actions are supported to ensure a positive learning environment is alive and vibrant. We are fortunate to belong to a community in which our staff and students are encouraged to hone their inherent gifts to share in the service of others.

St. Kateri Catholic School celebrated its official opening in 1992. The school is named after Kateri Tekakwitha, a native North American, born in 1656 near Auriesville, New York. When she was young, her parents and brother died of small pox and she was adopted by her two aunts and uncles. She first learned about Jesus from the Jesuit missionaries and was baptized in 1676. In 1677 she arrived at a Christian colony in Canada. Through prayer and personal sacrifice she devoted her life to Christ. Kateri died in 1680 at the age of 24. She was declared "Blessed" in 1980 and is known as the "Lily of  the Mohawks".

Blessed Kateri was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 and became a Saint! Her feast day in Canada takes place on April 17 each year.

Please come by and say hello the next time you are visiting our school!
